After making it with a guy she didn’t know as well as she thought, a young woman is told that he has passed a curse on to her in the form of a strange being that will follow her.
This was certainly an original concept and I do applaud that. Very good acting overall and some genuine scares and creepiness abound here. The student film look actually worked to its advantage, keeping it gritty and somewhat earthy.
However, I really didn’t feel much empathy with the characters; they all seemed a bit remote and in some cases, unlikeable. There were a few cheap scares that detracted from the real horror and dispelled the otherwise earned tension. And the rules that seemed to be set early on tended to get ignored in the final scenes.
I’ll give this a recommendation, but don’t take someone if you want get lucky later; you probably won’t. No post credit scenes, so follow everyone out when the credits roll.
Flytrap rating: 7/10
