After Netflix officially announced today that there would indeed be a Season Two, they also let a few other tidbits out.
Joining the crew of familiar faces will be four newcomers, Matt Duffer confirmed, saying “there’s going to be a lot of new and interesting dynamics that we didn’t see in Season 1.” He also noted that they’re approaching Season 2 like one would when making a sequel to a movie blockbuster, drawing inspiration from the work of James Cameron, citing films like Aliens and Terminator 2. Much like Cameron’s work, the Duffer Brothers aim to create a followup season that feels different but retains the magic of the original.
Matt Duffer also revealed that Hawkins won’t be the the only location featured in Stranger Things: Season 2, revealing that the premiere’s opening scene won’t take place in the Indiana-set town. The Duffer Brothers also plan to explore more of the show’s alternate dimension, so you can expect to see more of the Upside Down in the show’s second season.
What is not clear is the the return of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) with Ross Duffer saying, “we leave that up in the air.”
Yeah, she’ll be back; she was a BIG part of the success of Season One.
