During a 120 year voyage in the Starship Avalon, a collision with an asteroid causes one one of the passengers to awaken 90 years too early. His choices on how to survive alone pretty much drive this picture.
Some solid performances by Pratt and Lawrence and Sheen, who are 90% of the narrative, really helps keep the movie afloat. Unfortunately, said narrative sometimes runs along on inertia, instead of accelerating the plot. Fortunately, there is enough heart and humor to keep it moving well enough until the good stuff starts happening.
Did I mention that there is enough awe and beauty so that, sometimes, you don’t really mind?
I’d recommend this one. I did not see it in 3-D, so I don’t know if that would help. There are no more scenes once the credits roll, so feel free to ride out when they ddo.
