Happy Death Day
Written by: Scott Lobdell
Directed by: Christopher Landon
Starring: Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Charles Aitken, Ruby Modine,
Rated PG-13
Running time: 96 Mins
A college student is murdered on her birthday and then wakes up at the start of the same day, over and over.
This film was way more fun than I thought it would be. It is immensely helped by, A) it doesn’t take itself a bit seriously and B) the protagonist is not totally clueless. It rarely slows down, except to let us catch our breath so it can hammer us again. You can tell this is a fairly low-budget feature, but it uses what it had very well.
I’ll recommend this one. There is no real gore, but there is some harsh language; you might not want to bring the kids. There are no post-credit scenes.
