After a rather obnoxious American tries unsuccessfully to hire Poirot as a bodyguard, and is then found murdered, the detective gets caught up in the question of who-done-it.
A good adaptation of the novel, with great set of actors. (If Michelle Pfeiffer is in something, I am usually there). The scenes of the train bustling through the countryside were fantastic. And when you have great actors and a good director, you get some stellar performances.
However, there is little attention given to the development of the cast of characters; they just sort of show up when they’re needed. And some of Poirot’s deductions seem a little more heaven-sent than earned. Plus, this:
That mustache/goatee combination is horrid and distracting.
I’ll recommend this one, mostly for the scenery and the cast. There are no post credit scenes, so once they roll you can express yourself outta there.
Flytrap rating: 7.5/10
