In the near future, humanity has been all but wiped out by armored, insanely fast creatures with acute hearing. One family is surviving by being very, very quiet. Will this work out for them?
The silence in this film is one of the stars. By necessity, there is almost no dialog and emotion and tension are shown, rather than voiced; this is directed superbly by Krasinski and intensified by the eerie score by Marco Beltrami. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat during most of the movie, except for the times I was jumping out of it in fright.
I’ll recommend this one. There are no post-credit scenes, so sneak on out when they start rolling.
