After an evil wizard escapes while being transferred to a prison, Dumbledore asks Newt to locate someone who might be able to help.
While this might have been an enjoyable, magical romp through 1920’s Paris and London, instead it’s a rather muddled and haphazard mixture of several plots that don’t quite gel in the climax, which doesn’t really solve anything. It’s OK to not see where the plot is going, if the revelation is astounding enough to justify the confusion, but this just doesn’t pan out.
Still, the performances are very good, especially Redmane, Sudol and Depp and the visuals are as astounding as can be. And the beasts are fantastic.
I can give this a very mild recommendation; see a matinee or other discount showing. There are no post credit scenes.
