David Dunn, the perdurable psychic from Unbreakable, tracks down the manic man-beast from Split, just in time for both of them to be incarcerated with the mastermind Elijah Price, aka Mr Glass. A psychologist treats them as delusional about their super-poweredness.
The first act of this film is pretty tight, but then it gets bogged down in disquisition and over-reliance on McAvoy’s (admittedly impressive) rendition of his DID; it just drifts along and starts to strain the narrative. When it finally picks up again, there is a solid conclusion to the trilogy, along with some pretty good surprises.
Willis almost sleepwalks through his role; everyone else impressed.
A LOT of folks are not going to like the way this ended, but I thought it was pretty perfect. There are no mid or post credit scenes, so Beast your way on out when they start to roll.
