When Teth-Adam is released, he goes on a killing spree (but only the bad, evil persons), so the Justice Society — Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher are sent to apprehend him. Shenanigans ensue, mainly because they are so bad at their job.
I had high hopes for this, which were dashed to the ground, stomped upon and set ablaze. First, a wooden narration by a whining voice that immediately set the wrong tone. Followed by some dreary history lessons and some mandatory bad guy setup. Then we get some facial shots of Adam looking…stern or mean or something. Then some more bad guy naughtiness, then some fighting, then some more fighting…it just goes on and on.
I really wanted to like this. There some excellent actors: Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Pierce Brosnan — all wasted by stilted, corny dialog, repetitive action and a lack of any real character setup. Yeah, I know who Kent Nelson and Doctor Fate are supposed to be, but what are they here? Carboard cutouts is what. The special effects are fine, but nothing really new.
The X-Men want their plane back.
I cannot recommend this one; this is the worst DC movie yet — and that’s saying something. It might be a little strong in places for small children. There is a mid-credits scene, but nothing after that. I sacrificed my bladder so you wouldn’t have to.
